Leah earned her M.A. in piano performance at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She obtained a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on Music and English, at Concord University. She has taught piano and accompanied choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists since she was 14. She currently accompanies the Rainbow Voices of West Virginia (formerly Charleston Gay Men's Chorale). She believes that music, especially when collaborative, can be a transformative form of communication. Her favorite classical style composers include Bach, Chopin, Debussy and Ravel. She also enjoys the music and performances of Aoife O'Donovan (as well as her former band, Crooked Still) and Sara Bareilles.
Most of Leah's writings, whether fiction or nonfiction, include elements of travel and nature. Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio is her favorite book. She likes the way James Michener's storylines weave together in all his novels, the quirky characters of Anne Tyler, and the creative ways Maggie Stiefvater can tune a phrase. Leah has participated in Nanowrimo every November since 2011. She will be launching a Patreon in August 2018 to feature content from the novel she has been writing for the past two years.
Leah first shared her dream of The Collabyrinth with her husband Patrick in 2008, while they were still dating. They have been collaborating ever since and working together to facilitate the same for others.
